Start with the open chords
Most of the Major, Minor and 7 columns are open chords: they use open strings and sit in the first three frets. Learn C, D, E, G and A, their minor versions and the 7ths before anything else.
F, B and the Cm and Gm rows are barre chords. A bar means one finger, usually the first, presses several strings at once. Leave them until the open chords feel easy.
Use the theory panels
The chords in each key table shows which chords sound good together. Pick a row, such as G, and its first, fourth, fifth and sixth chords (G, C, D and Em) play thousands of songs.
The formulas tell you what makes a chord minor or a 7th. A minor chord lowers the third note by one fret. A 7th adds the note two frets below the root.
