A dot lights up on the neck and you name the note. Keep going until you miss one, then try to beat your score.

Learn the natural notes first
Start with the low E and A strings. Their notes name almost every barre chord and power chord, so they pay off fastest. Say each note out loud as you play it, from the open string up to the 12th fret.
Natural notes are two frets apart, except B to C and E to F. Those pairs sit on neighbouring frets. Every other gap holds a sharp or flat.
Shortcuts that make it easier
The 12th fret repeats the open string, one octave up. Learn frets 0 to 11 and you know the whole neck.
The high and low E strings have the same notes. And the 5th fret of each string is the next string's open note, except on the G string, where it is the 4th fret.
