How to practice the blues scale
The blues scale is the minor pentatonic plus one extra note, the flat five. That extra note is the bluesy sound.
Play box 1 until you can do it without looking, then try the other boxes. The orange dots are the root.
Slide or bend into the flat five when you improvise. On its own it sounds tense. Moving off it to the next note makes it sound bluesy.
